CAMTEL PARTNERS WITH CBC TO EXPAND ITS NETWORK

The financing agreement was signed on January 21, 2026, in Yaounde.

This marks a new milestone in the life of our company. The General Manager, Mrs. Judith Yah Sunday Achidi, signed a syndicated financing agreement worth CFA F 44.884 billion with Commercial Bank Cameroon (CBC), represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Léandre Djummo. The funds are earmarked for the first phase of the Mobile Network Expansion (MNE) project, aimed at densifying and improving the quality of mobile services nationwide.

The program seeks to decongest existing infrastructure and extend 2G, 3G, and 4G coverage across regional and divisional capitals, university towns, strategic economic zones, as well as rural localities that remain underserved. The objective is to enhance service quality and support digital inclusion at a time when demand for mobile connectivity continues to rise.

This financing forms part of a broader investment program estimated at CFAF 52.2 billion. To support this expansion plan, CAMTEL approached a local banking consortium comprising CBC, Afriland First Bank, Union Bank of Cameroon, and National Financial Credit. In September 2025, the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) granted a favorable opinion for the mobilization of CFAF 31.3 billion through its special refinancing window, representing 60% of the total investment program.

The acceleration of CAMTEL’s investments will translate these financial commitments into concrete deployments on the ground, improve access to digital services, stimulate Internet usage, and strengthen State sovereignty in the strategic telecommunications sector. Ultimately, the MNE project is expected to facilitate access to e-commerce, online education, and digital public services.
